Great condition. There are a few fine scratches on the front and rear elements that will not impact photo quality. The lens is free of fungus, dust, and haze. The exterior has minor wear, typical for the age of the lens, such as small scratches or worn paint that does not impact the performance of the lens. The aperture and focus move smoothly, and the stop-down metering mechanism works well. Please see pictures for more details.
The Asahi Auto-Takumar 55mm F/2.2 M42 was produced between 1961-1963. It was designed to be used withe the Pentax Spotmatic line, and features a semi-automatic aperture design for stop-down metering. It is composed of 6 elements in 5 groups, with a 10 bladed aperture that produces a nearly circular bokeh. Minimum focusing distance is 54cm, and 0.13x magnification. This lens is well known for producing sharp images, even wide open, as well as distinctive swirly bokeh. It is susceptible to flare, and may produce low contrast depending on conditions.
