Excellent condition. There are one or two very small scratches on the front element, and a few specks of dust that will not impact photo quality. The lens is free of fungus and haze. The exterior has minor wear typical of age, such as small scratches or worn paint that do not affect the performance of the lens. The aperture and focus move smoothly, and the stop-down metering mechanics function well. Please see pictures for more details.
The Auto-Takumar 55mm F/2 M42 was produced from 1958 to 1959. It is composed of six elements in five groups, with a 10 bladed aperture that produces nearly circular bokeh. This version of the lens features a semi automatic diaphragm. The minimum focus distance is 55cm, and the maximum magnification is 0.13x. This lens is cited to have excellent sharpness, especially at f/4 or greater, and produces warmer images with pleasing bokeh.
