The Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8 Lens is a manual focus short telephoto lens that will produce superb images whether used for macro photography (up to 1:2 reproduction ratio, 1:1 with an optional adapter), or for general photography, such as portraits. It is designed for F mount cameras with full frame FX format sensors, but will also provide a 157.5mm equivalent focal length when used on DX-format cameras. The manual focus lens uses Close-Range Correction to maintain optical quality when shooting at exceptionally close focusing distances, even up to the minimum of 16.1". Additionally, it has a 9-blade diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus elements.
