The Zeiss Ikon Contarex Interchangeable Magazine Back is a specialized accessory that allows photographers to swap partially exposed rolls of 35mm film in broad daylight without losing a single frame. This system provides the flexibility to switch between different film types (such as color and black-and-white) using a single camera body.
Key Features & Compatibility:
Daylight Interoperability: Each magazine is light-tight when the darkslide is inserted, allowing you to remove it from the camera at any time.
Independent Frame Counter: The back features its own frame counter on the baseplate, which typically counts down to show remaining unexposed frames.
Contarex vs. Contaflex: Although they look similar, they are not interchangeable. Contarex backs are roughly 15cm wide, while Contaflex versions are 13cm wide.
Safety Lock: The magazine can only be attached or removed when the shutter is tensioned and the darkslide is fully inserted.
