Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/2.8 Lens
200-DAY Warranty - Pre-Owned - The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/2.8 Lens (Silver) is an ultra-compact, wide-angle pancake lens designed for Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mirrorless cameras. Providing a versatile 34mm full-frame equivalent focal length, it is a popular, travel-friendly option for street photography, daily snapshots, and casual portraiture. Because it was originally released alongside early Olympus PEN bodies, it is widely available on the secondhand market today.
Key Specifications & Performance
- Form Factor: Extremely slim pancake profile measuring just 22mm long and weighing a featherlight 71 grams.
- Optical Construction: 6 elements in 4 groups, including an aspherical element to minimize aberrations. It features a 5-blade circular aperture.
- Sharpness & Performance: Center sharpness is high even wide open at f/2.8, reaching its peak performance between f/4 and f/5.6. Corner sharpness can drop slightly, and it exhibits noticeable chromatic aberration and barrel distortion before software corrections are applied.
- Autofocus: Uses a contrast-based AF system that is snappy and accurate for single-shot stills, but its older motor is audibly noisier and prone to hunting during video recording compared to newer MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) lenses.
- Build Quality: Features a durable metal lens mount combined with a dense, high-quality plastic outer barrel. It uses small 37mm filters and lacks physical controls except for a smooth focus-by-wire manual ring.
