Description

Pre-Owned - GOMZ Sport (Спорт) PK0635 Serial #774

100-Day Warranty - Pre-Owned - GOMZ Sport (Спорт) PK0635 Serial #774

The GOMZ Sport (Спорт) PK0635 is a highly collectible vintage camera model produced by the Gosudarstvennyi Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod (GOMZ) factory in Leningrad, USSR.

Serial Number #774: Early Sport models started around serial number #320 and went up to roughly #19,000. Being number #774 makes this an exceptionally early, rare, and highly collectible 1936/1937 production unit.

Because Sport production was cut short by World War II and the Siege of Leningrad in 1941 (totaling only around 19,000 to 20,000 units), early variants like the PK0635 are incredibly rare today and highly prized by premium vintage camera collectors.

This camera has the 2 very rare film spools!

The GOMZ Sport requires two highly specific, custom-made film cassettes and spools to function. Because the camera operates via a cartridge-to-cartridge mechanism with no internal rewind feature, it is completely impossible to use standard, modern 35mm plastic or metal canisters.

The "Sport" (Спорт) is a historic 35mm SLR camera manufactured by the Soviet factory GOMZ (State Optical-Mechanical Factory) in Leningrad between 1935 and 1941. It holds a legendary status in photography history, as it widely competes with the German Ihagee Kine Exakta for the title of the world's first production 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera.

The code PK0635 refers specifically to a precise catalog classification used by Soviet camera collectors and historians (such as Jean Loup Princelle or the SovietCams reference system) to identify the early production variant of the camera.

The GOMZ Sport type PK0635—represented by individual pieces like Sport #774—is a rare variant of the pioneering Soviet 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera produced by the State Optical-Mechanical Factory in Leningrad during the late 1930s.
