Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera with NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/2.8 VR Lens

The Nikon Z50 II combines a compact DX-format mirrorless body with advanced imaging and autofocus technologies inherited from Nikon's flagship Z cameras, making it a versatile choice for photography, video, travel, and everyday content creation. Its 20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 7 image processor deliver detailed images, fast performance, and sophisticated subject detection, while compatibility with the full NIKKOR Z lineup provides extensive room to expand your system. This kit pairs the camera with the versatile NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/2.8 VR zoom, offering a 24-75mm full-frame equivalent range and a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture in a compact, lightweight design.

The Z50 II's 20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor works with the EXPEED 7 processor to provide high sensitivity, smooth color reproduction, reduced noise, and rapid image processing. Its native ISO range of 100-51200 can be expanded to ISO 204800 for challenging low-light situations. Full-resolution continuous shooting is available at up to 30 fps, while Pre-Release Capture can record frames for up to one second before the shutter is fully released, helping capture fleeting moments that can otherwise be missed.

Nikon has equipped the Z50 II with an advanced autofocus system incorporating algorithms and deep-learning technology derived from the Z9. Subject Detection recognizes nine different subject types, including people, animals, airplanes, and bicycles, while a dedicated Bird Detection mode helps maintain focus on birds in flight or other unpredictable movement. Eye-Detection AF provides refined recognition of eyes and can be combined with custom Wide-Area AF settings to accommodate different subjects and compositions.

For video, the Z50 II supports UHD 4K recording at up to 60 fps and Full HD recording at up to 120 fps. Additional features include Product Review mode, recording times of up to two hours, a video self-timer, built-in electronic Vibration Reduction, and HDMI output for recording to an optional external recorder. The camera can also create finished UHD 4K time-lapse movies internally. It supports UAC and UAV standards for live web streaming, while 10-bit internal recording with Nikon's N-Log LUT and four new RED LUTs provide additional flexibility for video workflows.

Creative control is enhanced by a dedicated Picture Control button, providing quick access to 31 built-in presets, including while shooting in Auto mode. Picture Control effects can be previewed directly on the rear LCD, allowing you to visualize color changes as you compose. Creator Recipes from other Nikon shooters can be downloaded through Nikon Imaging Cloud and integrated with the camera, while a one-year subscription to Nikon's Cloud Picture Controls software provides additional options for working with custom presets and professional editing tools.

The camera features a large 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD with a 180° flip-out articulating design, making it well suited to front-facing shooting and vlogging. Touch operation provides intuitive control over settings and focus, while the Touch FN function allows the focus point to be selected directly with your fingertips. The redesigned electronic viewfinder uses Nikon optics and is twice as bright as its predecessor for improved eye-level viewing. A built-in flash and hot shoe provide options for additional illumination, with Night Portrait mode helping balance ambient and flash lighting.

Connectivity includes built-in SnapBridge, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Wi-Fi for wireless image transfer and remote shooting. The Z50 II also includes microphone and HDMI ports, while its headphone jack doubles as a connection for Nikon's optional MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord. USB-C supports camera charging and USB power delivery. Power is supplied by the included EN-EL25a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, with in-camera charging supported. A single SD memory card slot accepts UHS-II cards for fast storage of photographs and video.

NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/2.8 VR Lens

The included NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/2.8 VR is a versatile standard zoom designed specifically for Nikon Z-mount DX-format cameras. Its 16-50mm focal-length range provides a 24-75mm full-frame equivalent field of view, covering wide-angle perspectives for landscapes, interiors, and street photography through short-telephoto focal lengths suited to portraits and everyday subjects. Its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture provides consistent exposure and depth-of-field control throughout the zoom range while supporting low-light shooting.

The lens uses a 12-element, 11-group optical design and a 9-blade rounded iris for smooth, circular bokeh. Its minimum focusing distance ranges from 5.9 inches at the wide end to 9.8 inches at the telephoto end, allowing detailed close-up photography with a shallow depth of field. Vibration Reduction provides up to 4.5 stops of stabilization, while the STM autofocus system offers fast, precise, and quiet focusing for both still photography and video.

A customizable control ring can be assigned to functions such as aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation, providing direct access to frequently used settings. The lens also minimizes focus breathing for more consistent framing during video recording. Despite its f/2.8 constant aperture, the lens remains compact and lightweight at approximately 11.6 oz and 3.5 inches long, making it a practical everyday zoom. It accepts 67mm filters and provides native Nikon Z-mount compatibility with DX-format mirrorless cameras.
