Full-resolution continuous shooting is available at up to 30 fps, making the Z5 IIC capable of capturing fast-moving subjects and fleeting moments with a high degree of precision.

Intelligent Autofocus and Pre-Release Capture

The Z5 IIC uses advanced subject-detection autofocus to recognize and track a variety of subjects, including people, animals, birds, vehicles, and aquatic life. When using Auto-Area AF, compatible subjects can be automatically detected and tracked as they move through the frame, helping maintain sharp focus without requiring constant manual adjustment.

EXPEED 7 also enables Pre-Release Capture, which can record a burst of images for up to one second before the shutter is fully released. Once the shutter button is half-pressed, the camera begins capturing frames, allowing the buffer to retain the preceding images when the shutter is pressed completely. This is particularly useful when photographing unpredictable action or moments that are difficult to anticipate.

Built-In Vibration Reduction

For more advanced production workflows, the Z5 IIC supports 12-bit N-RAW recording at resolutions up to 4032 × 2268 as well as 10-bit H.265 recording in N-Log. Multiple free RED LUTs are available for creating distinctive looks, while Product Review mode provides a useful option for product-focused content creation. The camera also supports UAC/UAV standards, allowing it to be used for live web streaming without requiring additional software.

Creative Color Control

A dedicated Picture Control button provides quick access to the Z5 IIC's 31 built-in presets, including when shooting in Auto mode. Picture Control effects can be previewed directly on the rear LCD, making it easier to see how different color and tonal treatments will affect an image before capture. Through Nikon Imaging Cloud, users can also download Creator Recipes developed by other Nikon photographers and incorporate them into their collection of available presets.

The camera also includes Warm Display Colors, which changes the information display from white to red to reduce brightness and help preserve night vision. The Z5 IIC includes a USB-C port for camera charging and USB power delivery, while a micro-HDMI port supports external recording and live-view applications. The headphone jack can also function as a connection for Nikon's optional MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord. Built-in SnapBridge connectivity provides wireless image transfer and remote camera control, with Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi enabling communication with compatible smart devices. From a connected mobile device, users can remotely trigger the camera and view a live image from the camera's LCD.
