Known for its versatility, this latest version enhances usability with a closer minimum focusing distance of 1.5', an upgraded 11-blade aperture for smoother bokeh, and a redesigned body that aligns with the slim, lightweight aesthetic of the Summilux-M 35mm. A built-in retractable lens hood further streamlines its everyday practicality.
As part of Leica’s Summilux lineup, this lens is defined by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture—ideal for low-light shooting and precise depth-of-field control. The updated optical design is optimized for modern high-resolution sensors, delivering improved sharpness, contrast, and overall image fidelity.
An integrated aspherical element helps suppress spherical aberrations and distortion, ensuring accurate rendering across the frame. Meanwhile, the new 11-blade diaphragm produces rounder, more pleasing bokeh, especially at mid-range apertures.
Beyond its optical improvements, the lens features a refreshed exterior consistent with Leica’s latest Summilux-M series, including the 35mm f/1.4. The updated construction enhances both handling and portability.
The minimum focusing distance has been reduced from 2.3' to 1.5', expanding creative possibilities—particularly when using live view, the Visoflex, or the Leica FOTOS app. It’s important to note that traditional rangefinder focusing remains effective down to 2.3', while distances closer than that require live view focusing.
A retractable lens hood is now integrated directly into the design, eliminating the need for a separate accessory. Measuring approximately 2.3 x 2.3" and weighing just under 12 ounces, the lens maintains a compact and well-balanced form.
Featuring the classic M bayonet mount with 6-bit coding, the lens ensures full compatibility with Leica M-system cameras, supporting seamless integration across the rangefinder lineup.
