The Sinar Copal DB Shutter is a specialized behind-the-lens mechanical shutter for Sinar large-format cameras. It is designed to work with "DB" (or "DBM") mount lenses, which are barrel lenses without their own built-in shutters. This system allows a single shutter to be used with multiple lenses, streamlining the process of shooting with a variety of focal lengths. The Sinar Copal DB Shutter is designed to improve workflow, especially in a studio setting. It allows photographers to observe the scene on the ground glass with the lens wide open for a bright image, and then automatically closes the aperture and fires the shutter upon pressing the release. It can also automatically close when a film holder is inserted.
